A full redesign of JainSite, which calls itself the world's largest Jain website: an animated, mobile-first site in English, Hindi and Gujarati on a fast custom CMS (not WordPress), with all the old content moved over.

Project Overview

JainSite (jainsite.com), started in 2007, is a large Jain knowledge and community website — Jainism, tirths and temples, a library of stavan, lyrics and e-books, a directory, panchang and more. I'm rebuilding it from the old WordPress site: a premium, fully animated design from the approved mockup, three languages, and every old article, tirth and name moved over with the old links still working. The new site is with the client for review.

Architecture

Design / UX

Temple photography, warm gold and maroon from the JainSite logo, serif headlines (“Discover. Learn. Live Jainism.”), an opening animation of Bhagwan Mahavir Swami with his mantra, and no pop-up ads.

Development

Built with Next.js and a custom CMS — no WordPress, so pages load fast — and deployed on Vercel. The old site's content — 4,800+ articles, stavan, lyrics and e-books; 2,500+ tirths, temples and sthanaks; 800+ baby names — was migrated, and old jainsite.com URLs redirect to their new pages so search rankings are kept. Everything is editable from an admin panel.
